Leave with a plan for what happens next
The visit needs a next step.
At this point
Before speaking with a health professional, make a note of the problem you want to discuss and the questions you need answered.
The assumption
The visit is complete once a prescription is sent.
What the facts show
After a first online visit, the health professional had to explain what care was needed next, under the September 2026 Texas rules.
With your consent, a report had to reach your regular primary care doctor within 72 hours, if you had one.
Primary care doctor means the doctor you see for your usual health needs.
Bring the names, not just the boxes
Make a note of your medicines, past health problems and what has changed recently.
Bring the full name of any product you want to discuss.
Ask what information the health professional still needs before reaching a decision.
Ask who arranges any tests
National medical boards advise doctors to arrange needed tests or send patients to someone who can do them.
The same advice calls for an in-person visit when an exam or procedure cannot be done online.
Ask which test would answer which question, who reviews the result and what that review costs.
Get the next step in plain words
Find out the date for reviewing the plan and how you can contact the health professional about a concern.
Request a copy of the visit plan to keep with your own records.
