Match the source to the question
Different records answer different questions.
At this point
If an advert cites a source, ask what that source actually proves about the exact product or health professional.
The assumption
An advert, a licence and a study answer the same question.
What the facts show
The US consumer protection agency is the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). It says health adverts receive no government clearance before publication.
For an approval claim, ask for the product's approval record and official medicine label.
For a person or pharmacy, ask for the state licence record.
For a treatment claim, ask who was studied, which product was used and what result was measured.
Read the answer and its limit together
As of September 2026, registering with the US medicine agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), did not give a product approval.
A public licence record is not a grade for the care.
FDA says reporting a problem with a medicine does not establish that the medicine caused the problem.
A reading list with a job for each source
- FDA: understand an approval claim
Use it to check whether an advert names an approved product or merely says it is registered.
- FDA: understand compounding
Read why medicines are made to order, then check the limits on that process.
- FDA: examine unapproved weight medicines
This covers research labels, compounded products and concerns about what is supplied.
- Texas: look up a doctor or assistant
The free record includes licence details and any published board orders, such as discipline for breaking rules, as of September 2026.
- Texas: look up a nurse
This separate board search includes nurse practitioners, as of September 2026.
- Texas: look up a pharmacy
Check the pharmacy name, including a pharmacy based in another state.
- Texas: read the online-care law
Use the state's own text for consent, first visits and follow-up.
- Medicare: check who can use the Bridge
Read who qualifies and which product forms count before relying on an advertised copay.
- MedlinePlus: get the emergency guidance
This explains severe allergic reactions and when emergency help is needed.
- Census: check Houston's city figures
The figures are population estimates, not a count of health professionals or available care.
