Check the medicine by its full name
An approval covers a named product for a named use.
At this point
If a page presents many peptide names as one menu, ask which exact product is being proposed for your health problem.
The assumption
Being listed in a drug database means it passed review.
What the facts show
Medicine reviews by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) apply to specific products and uses.
Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) were FDA-approved medicines, as of September 2026.
Two products with the same ingredient can have different approved uses.
Ask which use applies to the product being offered.
Ask the health professional to name the product, its form and the condition it would treat.
Some familiar names lack approval
BPC-157 and ipamorelin had no FDA-approved US medicine product, as of September 2026.
No application for either appeared in FDA's records checked in September 2026.
That finding does not say that FDA reviewed and rejected them.
As of September 2026, retatrutide still lacked US approval.
FDA also said retatrutide could not be used in compounding under federal law, as of September 2026.
Lack of approval alone does not prove that a medicine causes harm.
It also does not settle whether a pharmacy can legally make it to order, as of September 2026.
A product code is not an approval
NDC stands for National Drug Code. It identifies a drug product listed in a directory.
FDA says that code does not establish approval, as of September 2026.
For an approved product, ask to see its FDA approval record.
If the medicine is made to order, ask what need an approved product leaves unmet and which rules permit this preparation.
